The New Girl Around Town

One of my very good friends since high school who now resides in Canada, Timothy and I thought about doing a shoot during his visit last summer. We thought of doing very wearable clothes and a cool girl in mind. I thought of doing patterns and prints since it seems new and where the direction of fashion is going. We thought of a venue and the street seemed to be the most relevant and current scene to be at that time since it is summer and street wear influences fashion in a major major way.  In my opinion, the result embodied both our philosophies and statements.

A Tender Yearning

At several points in our lives, we experience a tender yearning. I did this mini-collection right after fashion school and after watching the animated movie "Kung Fu Panda".  The movie struck me several times in so many ways. Both the emotions felt when one yearns and the movie Kung Fu Panda and its characters inspired the cuts, the colors, and the look of the garments. At that point in my life, I yearned for so many things, and those emotions helped me create and recreate.

African Androgyny

This look is created for my Menswear class project in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. However, we wanted to experiment with the clothes and have it worn by a female model, and it works! The look is inspired by two opposing characteristics about Africa: poverty and opulence.

A White Horse's Ta-il/le

This is the first pieces of clothing I have made that is worn by a professional model and had undergone a photoshoot. This is a project of our Advance Pattern Class in the Fashion Institiute of the Philippines. We took inspiration from animals and this one particularly inspired by a horse. I took several characteristics of a horse: strength, gracefulness, and serenity to create the silhouette and look of the garments. I am obvioulsy carried away by a white horse in the choice of color. The top piece is embellished with buttons with watermarks of zebra stripes and added tassels to symbolize an iconic part of the animal, its tail.
